Boys football is one of the most popular sports at South High School, interviewing the players and coaches will help learn about the team more. Giving advice to the younger boys will help them in their football seasons.
“Always come into practice to get better,” Linebacker Alex Davidson said (‘24).
Having a good mindset going into practice will always have a situation to self-reflect and learn from the experience.
Getting better may be the main focus of the team but getting to learn from the experience is so much better because players can see what was wrong and fix it.
“Hardwork and physicality is a key aspect to the game,” Defensive Dammian Hightower said (‘24).
Putting in the effort is what football is all about. Focusing can be hard during a time when life is busy but having a positive attitude throughout will help get the mind off of the bad.
The wide receiver coach, Ernest Ballenger said, “Just the love of football and the hope that we will get eventually better if we stick with it.”
A negative outcome of a game could make the team think poorly of themselves but it gives them a sense of responsibility to always have a positive attitude during practices and later games.
Having different views and outlook on a good leader can help with deciding on who the best fit is for any certain position during a game.
“You have to lead by example, so you have to be willing to tell your teammates things they may not be willing to hear,” head coach Sam Sellers said.
