Salina South’s boys soccer team has had a strong season this season, with 14 wins and only five losses. They were able to make it to regionals and won 1-0 to Newton, making them state bound. The hard work and effort the team has had to put in this season to get to where they are now.
“The thing I most enjoy about soccer is the friends and family you make, the bonds you make with your coaches and teammates. Winning games is truly fulfilling because you know that the hard work you put in was worth it,” Josh Soto (’26) said.
Having such an amazing relationship with your teammates is what truly brings a team together, hence why the Salina South high school boys team has done so well this season. Their relationships, and hard work is what truly makes them so successful.
“Something that I’ll miss about high school soccer is the relationships I have with my teammates, I know they won’t be gone but it won’t be the same,” Seth Flores (’24) said.
Flores also expressed that making it to state is one of his biggest accomplishments in soccer. What makes that even more special is the fact that this is the first time South has made it to state since 2015 and only the second time in South’s history to make it to state in soccer.
Knowing this makes it even more unbelievable to think that this specific group of boys were able to accomplish something that has only been accomplished for our school a couple times in history, it must have been truly fulfilling to have achieved this.
