Salina South’s coffee bar was started during the rebuilding project that took place in 2018 but was not opened again until 2021 due to COVID. It was founded by one of the culinary teachers, Linda Edson.
“The coffee bar offers culinary interns the opportunity to have a professional culinary experience without leaving campus. This makes it more accessible for all students,” culinary teacher Linda Edson said.
The coffee bar helps the culinary students get a taste of professionalism and an opportunity to hone their skills, with the help of their teachers and peers.
This year there has been a variety of both food and drinks added to the menu such as, a wider range of cold drinks, matcha lattes, apple cinnamon rolls, pumpkin cinnamon rolls, and carrot streusel coffee cake. The coffee bar is a great place for students to get food and drinks for good quality and cheaper prices. It’s also more convenient than having to drive somewhere and spend a ridiculous amount of money at a coffee chain or fast food place.
“It’s something easy and fun for us to do and a good opportunity for us to make a lot of friends and spend time with our teacher,” culinary intern Isabella Freidhof (‘25) said.
The coffee bar is an excellent place to spend quality time with fellow students and connect with new people. It allows students to socialize and enjoy a good cup of coffee in the company of their friends.
