Birthdays, holidays and other special events are coming up in these next few months. There is not a better way to celebrate than with a delicious dessert. This is how to make a Tres Leches Cake, otherwise known as a Three Milks Cake.

To start, you need to gather some ingredients. These include:
- ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon (75 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs (separate the egg whites and yolk)
- ½ cup (100 grams) sugar
- 3 tablespoon (45 milliliters) whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 7 ounces (198 grams) sweetened condensed milk
- ¾ cup (207 milliliters) evaporated milk
- ⅓ cup (78 milliliters) whole milk
- Cinnamon (optional)
Topping:
- 1 cup (236.5 milliliters) whipping cream
- 1 ½ tablespoon confectioners sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries

Before you create the batter, reserve a tablespoon of your sugar and set it to the side for later use. Now, in a large mixing bowl, pour in your sugar and three egg yolks.

You will then cream the mixture using a whisk. Now that they are creamed together, add the whole milk and the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix and combine well.

Now, get a sifter, as you will begin to sift in your dry ingredients. Into the sifter, add the flour, the ¼ teaspoon of salt and the teaspoon of baking powder. Shake the ingredients into the bowl. During the mixing process try not to over-mix.

Now, get a second mixing bowl and pour in your three egg whites.

Mix the egg whites a bit to give them a head start before adding in that tablespoon of sugar that you set aside earlier.

Continue whisking, and for this process you can use a whisk, hand mixer, or stand mixer.

Mix until you have stiff peaks.

Now, fold this mixture into your batter.

Now that the batter is combined, set it to the side so that you can butter up your baking dish or add cooking spray to it.

Once done, pour your cake batter into the baking dish.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, put the baking dish inside and let it bake for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center after sticking it in.

Now, while the cake is baking, we will work on the milk mixture.

Add all of the milks into a pot (add a dash of cinnamon if you want to as well).

Put this on low heat and mix a little until the condensed milk is combined with the other milks. Once completely mixed in, take it off the heat and move it aside to let it cool.

When the cake is done, let it cool completely. Once the cake is cooled, take either a fork or a skewer and start poking holes all around the cake.

Once you are finished poking holes, pour the cooled milk mixture all over the cake.

Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge. Let the cake chill for at least 3-4 hours or overnight to allow it to soak in all of the milk mixture.
Now, you will work on the whipped cream topping.

Get a large mixing bowl and pour in your heavy whipping cream. Begin whipping it with either a whisk or hand mixer. Then when it starts to foam and get fluffy, add in your 1 ½ tablespoons of confectioner sugar and your vanilla extract. Then continue whisking until soft peaks form.

When the frosting is ready add it on top of your cake.

Get some freshly washed strawberries and cut them up in whatever way you desire. Lastly, add them on top of your cake.

Now, enjoy your Tres Leches Cake.
