The Salina South High soccer team came off an electric season finishing 17-4 last season. To start the year off the cougars dropped a close game to Rose Hill 2-1.
“We committed too many uncharacteristic fouls, and need to do a better job at finishing,” Coach Trey Crow said.
Despite this setback the team is staying optimistic. Some veteran players are expecting more from their teammates knowing that the team is capable of great things.
“ To win regionals and make it back to the state tournament,” Josh Soto (‘26) said.
The leading scorer from last season has high expectations for his teammates.
“We’ve got to keep possession, move the ball quickly, and be sharp in the final third. and finish all our chances,” Rodrigo Palacios (‘26) said.
Some other starters who are not new to the spotlight have a positive attitude towards the upcoming season. The reason behind this is because the team has bounced back from adversity before and know that they have plenty of time to turn things around.
“We have a high standard set for us; to win our league, regionals, and win state. Crow Said
With a full schedule ahead of them the Cougars are not going to dwell on this loss and plan to bounce back this Tuesday against Great Bend in the opening round of the Salina South Invitational.
