Almost every Tuesday, all South High School students must complete a Xello lesson assigned for their grade level. But why does the school use Xello?
“We use Xello as a way to match students with potential careers that interest them, as well as an opportunity to log things like volunteer hours. There’s also test prep on there,” Kristen Fox, a member of the IPS and ELO improvement team, said.
Xello is designed to make it easier for students to decide which careers they may want to pursue after high school with assessments like the Matchmaker or Skills Lab.
“I think Xello can help you, but I also think that some of the stuff that we do on Xello, like the lessons, is not always accurate,” Hayden Augustine (‘27) said.
Augustine was specifically referring to the career matching quizzes in Xello, but that is not all Xello has to offer. Seniors may find Xello useful to prepare for college.
“I think it can be helpful if people actually use it, and especially helping plan out their college courses,”Jalee Hurren (‘26) said. “It was pretty easy because it gives details on there. All you have to do is click on them and it gives you a whole list.”
Xello also gives students access to Methodize, a tool designed to help students study for the ACT or the SAT, along with lists of scholarships and majors to further help students in college. To access Methodize, students just have to click on the resources tab and open Methodize.
