Valentine’s Day is the annual holiday where couples celebrate their relationship and connection. Couples across the world share their affection to one another through simple gestures, spending time with one another and gifting presents.
While Valentines Day is intended for couples to celebrate their love, there are lots of ways that people can celebrate, even without a partner. Some students spend time with their close loved ones on this special day to bring forth their appreciation for one another.
Lillian Patchett (24’) said, “I usually just do something with my cousin (my best friend), we do like a Friends-giving thing but for Valentine’s Day.”
Other students take this opportunity to celebrate themselves as a self appreciation day.
Kingston Montgomery (25’) said, “There is one gift I like to give MYSELF every Valentine’s Day is a picture framed with my face on it to remind myself how good I look.”
Other times, couples indulge in gift giving a variety of presents that are meaningful to their significant other, as well as spending quality time with them.
“I am going to get him Legos, batman candy, regular candy, and flowers.” said Isabelle Greenemeyer (24’).
“I’m just hoping to get to spend some quality time with my significant other this Valentine’s Day,” Lydia Gerry (24’) said.
Gift baskets are a creative and thoughtful way to give gifts because they are elaborate and require partners to think about their significant other’s likes and niches. Not only are they a fun way to give presents, it is also so meaningful to the other person.
Haley Hemberger (25’), “I love gift baskets. I would put candy, drinks, a stuffed animal, and probably some self care things because everybody needs self care things.” said
